Hi everyone!
As you might have already guessed it by the title of this blog post, yes I did it, I bought a micro four thirds camera in 2024. Which it doesn’t make lots of sense, but please allow me to explain.

After being employed by a very well known company in 2022 where I did put all of my energies into it (and trust me I am loving every single moment), I felt a creative block approaching, slowly starting to penetrate my essence for then taking my whole soul.
A pause from what my so called photography passion has been in the past decade. I knew I was never going to abbandon it, and eventually to gradually come back into existence.
This for me is the first step in the right direction from the well needed detour of life changing moments.
To be honest before this I owned a much nicer Fujifilm X-T20 camera, the camera I've used many times accross South-East Asia, fullfilled by many great memories I still recall being the best years of my life. More than the camera itself there was an emotional attachment to it, but I knew I had to get rid of it to freshly turn the creative block that took me.

So I spent days and months looking into something for me that would check out those three main points: Design, Price and Versatility.
For design it was a tough one, I love cameras like Fujifilm and Leica mainly because how they look and feel, they have that nostalgic vibe that would keep my inspiration going. But those were kind of too much over my budget, I wanted something not too entry level but still with a look that would be distinguishable from the mainstream cameras. Olympus in that way was the obvious choice.
The M model resembles the same old aura of the Olympus M Film cameras, they did it and I did not notice it up until recently. But the price was still a bit over the budget as well, so I started looking into forums and marketplaces to see if there was anything used in good conditions. I finally came up with the OM-D E-M10 which it was released back in 2014.
I choose a 10 years old camera that still rocks it!
The megapixels where good enough (with 16 I'm still happy), the other specs were all checked out for the kind of photography I love, and as far as per the versatility point, it went beyond my expectations. Having a micro 4/3 camera means that is going to be lightweight and small with tiny lenses, just the right mix I love for street-photography!

So I spent the last few months playing around with it on my free time here in Ireland.
I brought it to the cliffs of Moher with my housemates, did many photo walks by myself and with my workmates in Cork, and afterall I must say I had lots of fun with this camera.
I finally found another tool just right for where my life is right now, that would not let my main passion get killed by a grown up kind of life.
