We have done it!

If you asked myself three years ago, when we first came in this beautiful country that is Ireland, I wouldn’t have believed it we could this quickly. But as soon as we came in this place, this has been the huge goal of ours, focusing every energy and saving every penny to make it happen, so it did after only three years!

I still currently have to pinch myself, but we are now definitely owners of this beautiful home in the suburbs of Cork, the city we fell in love with since the very first time we came here. A town that is not too big, neither too small … in Italy we say: “a misura d’uomo” (human measured), is just perfect you know. We are surrounded by lovely people, just yesterday I had an amazing encounter with a person (that might be a story too long). When we were going back from taking the keys of our house, I was walking my bike home from the opposite side of the city as the tyre deflated. But then an angel from nowhere stopped me. I didn’t give him any attention at first as he was whistling at me, but then he really ran off me so I had to say hi. Well, guess what.. He not only offered to inflate my bike with his electric inflator, but when he noticed that the tyre had a puncture, he helped me locate the puncture by removing the tyre and he applied a temporary patch on the inner tube to inflate it back. So he made me go home riding the bike safely, which without it it would have taken me at least an hour and a half to reach home by foot. I was honestly speechless and I didn’t know what to do to repay him, as those kind of things I thought would only happen in movies! This is just an additional episode to say that this town has something magical, and we couldn’t have asked for a better location to have the foundations of our future well set in this area of Ireland.

Going back to the house we purchased, is amazing! Is a three bedroom house based in two floors with a garden (we can’t wait to tell you all about it with a video I’m working on for our YouTube channel). Right now is empty and bare inside, but we are already imagining it with furnitures and floors completed inside. We are already in contact with a contractor to do the floor as, weird thing (as an Italian) to purchase a house in Ireland: there is no floor done when you purchase a new build, but not only this. Is that they build the kitchen first and then you have to make your way to do the floor around the kitchen or wardrobe in the bedrooms. Yes, it does not go underneath it. Which it makes sense to save materials and money, but it would be something out of another planet if you say this to my grandparents.

We are so thrilled to show it all to you, as this is the beginning of an exciting new chapter of ours. And if you are close to us, I cannot wait to have you in our warming of our gorgeous new home.

See you in the next one (I hope it won’t be that long).

With love, Lorenzo.
